Graduate Assistantship Position Descriptions

Academic-year appointments begin on or around the last week of July because of the training programs and preparations needed to open the residence halls for the academic year. Twelve-month/calendar-year appointments are mid-May to mid-May, or August to July. Remuneration for all Student Programs graduate assistantships includes in-state tuition waiver and monthly stipend established by the Graduate School. Some positions may be redefined from year to year depending on Residence Life program needs. Positions marked "filled" are no longer accepting applications for 2009-2010.

Graduate Assistant for First-year Programs

The graduate assistant for first-year programs is responsible for helping the assistant director for first-year programs provide leadership for activities and courses designed to enhance the educational experience and quality of first-year student life in the residence halls.

Graduate Hall Director

The graduate hall director participates in staff selection, training, and evaluation of 6-12 resident advisors, and performs a variety of administrative and programmatic duties.

Graduate Assistant for Greek Housing (filled)

The graduate advisor is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day administration and supervision of staff, programs, and services designed to enhance the educational experience and quality of student life in the Oak Lane Community, which consists of 18 Greek fraternity and sorority houses.

Imaginarium Manager

The Imaginarium manager is responsible for assisting the assistant director for first-year programs in providing leadership for the Imaginarium Programming Resource Center.

Student Leadership Graduate Advisor

The RHF graduate advisor provides routine support, advisement, and training for the RHF executive committee and board of directors, and indirectly for the general assembly and approximately 150 residence hall council officers who voluntarily serve the 8,900 on-campus residents in 44 residence halls.

Theme Housing Graduate Assistant (filled)

The GA assists with the day-to-day operations of the theme housing programs and primarily assists in the supervision of all theme housing resident advisors.
