Dining Positions (Apply

(To apply for a position in one of the dining centers, submit an electronic application. If you have questions about student employment, you may contact any dining unit, e-mail Jodi Cone, or call Human Resources at (540) 231-5039 during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.)
Interested applicants must apply online. Student Programs will no longer accept paper applications for dining positions. Student employment opportunities available in the dining centers including Servers,
Busers, Wait Staff, Cooks, Dishwashers, Pot Washers, Cashiers, Office Assistants,
and Student Management Staff.
Residence Life Positions
Student employment opportunities in the residence halls including, Resident
Advisors, Theme Housing Assistants, and Office Assistants. Due to the nature of these positions, a criminal history check is required prior to employment.
Office Assistants

Many Student Programs departments seek Office Assistants to provide part-time support for general office duties. (Certification of Federal Work Study Award Required)
Summer Employment
Employment opportunities are also available for students who wish to stay in Blacksburg during the summer. Positions including Summer Conference Staff, Theme Housing Programs Office Assistants, Special Projects Crew, and limited dining positions. Paper applications should be completed for all summer positions, except dining and summer conferences.
- Summer Conferences: Each summer Student Programs hosts more than 90 conferences and more than 15,000 guests on campus. Student staff play a vital role in providing services to our campus guests. There are many benefits to working with our program: a competitive salary, the possibility for free housing, and in some cases, a free meal with each shift worked.
- Dining Services: During the summer, a limited number of positions may be available in dining services. Because D2 and Squires are the only dining centers open during the summer, the number of student staff needed may be limited. To apply for a position in one of the dining centers, submit an electronic application.
Graduate Assistantships
Applications for the next academic year are now being accepted.
Fifteen graduate students are employed by Student Programs to assist with essential
functions of a large department. Each is designed to provide an emerging student
affairs professional with opportunities to develop general skills such as advising,
supervising, program design and development, training, residence hall operations,
and overall exposure to residence life issues.
