Academic Core Dining Facility

Aerial view of the Academic Core Dining Facility

This new dining center, located behind McBryde Hall on Old Turner Street, will provide much-needed options for dining in the academic core of campus. The state-of-the-art facility will be a convenient stop for students between classes, faculty and staff members, and off-campus students.

The Academic Core Dining Facility will house 10 restaurants—some branded franchises, some Student Programs concepts.

The offerings will focus on the specific needs of commuters and academic staff, with lots of quick breakfast and lunch options and an emphasis on healthy and organic foods, but will also feature popular brands and many of the same items found in the existing dining centers. It will also be used to support programs for the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets.

This new dining center will be located on the first two floors of a five-story building that will provide instructional and administrative space, and possibly space for University Unions and Student Activities.

This building and all new construction projects in Student Programs’ current master building plan are designed with sustainability in mind and will meet requirements for U.S. Green Building Council LEED silver certification.
