Your Housing/Dining Contract

Virginia Tech seeks to provide housing and dining services for students at the lowest possible rate. For this reason, the University must operate the residence halls on a contract basis for the full academic year. Each student who resides on campus is required to sign a Housing/Dining Contract prior to assignment. Students are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the terms and conditions of the contract. When the contract is signed and returned, it becomes a binding agreement - a legal contract - between the student and the University. Students may choose to submit their contract via the traditional paper version, or they may submit their contract electronically using the Hokie SPA website.

Incoming freshmen are guaranteed on-campus housing for their first year at Virginia Tech under the Freshmen Residency Requirement.

On-campus residents (including new first-year/transfer students) will receive a Major Flex Plan automatically. If you wish to keep this meal plan, you do not have to do anything else.

Housing Application Process
All full-time, undergraduate returning Virginia Tech students are eligible and encouraged to apply each year for on-campus housing through the Housing Application Process. In this section, the Housing Application Process is described.

Housing/Dining Contract Terms and Conditions
The terms and conditions of the Housing/Dining Contract are provided in this section. Students are responsible for reviewing these regulations.

Completing Your Online Contract
Have questions about submitting your contract? In this section, we provide instructions on completing the online Housing/Dining Contract and information on how to request a traditional paper copy.

Contract Release Requests
At its discretion, the University may release a student from the contract during the academic year. The mechanism for requesting release from your Housing/Dining Contract is to petition the Contract Review Committee. Information about this process can be found in this section.
