Imaginarium Board Awards

The Imaginarium Board Awards are intended to recognize Residence Life programmers who do exceptional passive programming throughout the year. The Board Awards are given out each month to a programmer from each residential community who has done an exceptional bulletin board or passive program (such as a display program). Nominated boards are judged on the following criteria:

  • Original design
  • Use of Imaginarium resources
  • Appeal
  • Creativity
  • Educational/informative
  • Eye-catching

There is also an annual Board Award for year-long, outstanding passive programming. The recipients of the annual award will also receive prizes. The annual award is conferred based on the following categories:

  • Academic success: Programs including study skills, time management, academic support and resources, academic integrity, etc.
  • Personal growth: Programs including personal values, relationships, first-year experience, diversity, alcohol/drugs, sexual assault, etc.
  • Community: Community service projects or collaborative programs with other halls or campus resources

Hall supervisors will be notified of the Board Award nomination period. To nominate someone for a Board Award, please include the following in an e-mail to imagine@vt.edu:

  1. A digital photo of the bulletin board
  2. Title/topic of the board
  3. Programmer(s) who made it (including hall council-made boards)
  4. Residence hall community
  5. The Pylon the board represented, if applicable
  6. An explanation of how the board benefited the target community
  7. Contact information of the nominator

Hall supervisors will be contacted if there is a winning bulletin board in their building. Imaginarium Staff members will present Board Awards. The Imaginarium staff will work to coordinate a time to present; this includes meeting the presenter at the entrance to the building because of card access.

All nominations are due by the twenty-fifth of the month of the award period and awards will be distributed at the beginning of the following month. Awards will be conferred for the following periods: August/September, October, November/December, January/February, and March.

Note: There will not be a Board Award for April 2009 as the Imaginarium will be closing early for the beginning of Ambler Johnston Hall renovations.

We look forward to seeing your nominations and boards throughout the year!
