Mission Statement
The mission of Student Programs is to provide facilities, services, staffing, and
programs that support the educational mission of Virginia Tech and promote the
personal and academic development of the individual student. In order to accomplish
this mission, Student Programs seeks to fulfill the following purposes and goals:
- To offer a variety of facilities that are properly designed, safe, secure, healthy, attractive, comfortable, clean, well maintained, and reasonably priced.
- To offer a variety of dining options, with nutritious and high-quality meals, in pleasant surroundings, and at a reasonable cost.
- To provide live-in paraprofessional (student) and both live-on and live-off professional and support staff who assist in creating an environment conducive to student learning and personal development.
- To provide learning environments and related programs, grounded in human and student development theory, which promote academic success, individual maturity, and the building of community.
- To ensure the orderly and effective administration of the housing and dining program through appropriate staff recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation, wise use of information and resources, and timely response to student/customer needs and suggestions.
