Celebrate southern hospitality at D2BLACKSBURG, Va., Sept. 22, 2006—Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend Southern Nights, fall semester’s customer appreciation dinner at D2, Virginia Tech’s national award-winning all-you-care-to-eat dining center. Held Thursday, September 28 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., the event will transform D2 into a scene from the old south, with verandas and rocking chairs, a farmer’s market, a Mississippi riverboat, southern belles and a horse and carriage. “Southern Nights was chosen as the theme for this meal because it denotes hospitality, the legacy of D2,” said Kelvin Bergsten, manager of D2. “The atmosphere will make you want to linger a little longer and savor the evening.” Entertainment will be provided compliments of the bluegrass band, Crossties. The menu will feature southern staples such as Cajun fried chicken, shrimp Creole, fresh corn on the cob, red beans and rice, Virginia She-crab soup and peach pie. Two students and their friends will receive VIP treatment for the night, including a horse-drawn carriage ride around campus, admission to the dinner, and VIP seating. Special meal prices are $3.70 for Flex Plan holders and $11.65 cash, Hokie Passport and Dining Dollars.
