Oak Lane Community
The Oak Lane community comprises 18 buildings that house fraternities and sororities, as well as some non-affiliated groups of students. Each group leases its building from the university to use the space for living and programming initiatives. In addition, residents pay for their room and a dining plan. The community is located in the northwest sector of campus beyond the overflow parking as you turn off of Duckpond Drive. Also located in the Oak Lane Community are recreational fields, volleyball courts, basketball courts, and a pavilion for student use. The management of this area is delegated to a community director and a graduate assistant who supervise the live-in house managers. Similar to traditional resident advisors, house managers go through a rigorous hiring process and training. However, house managers also have some responsibilities that an undergraduate hall director might have, such as occupancy management.
House managers are the liaisons between their residents, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Student Programs. Although what is expected of them may be different from other members of the Residence Life staff, they are a vital component to our operation. The groups currently residing in the Oak Lane Community are: Fraternities: Sororities: If you would like to learn more about the unique living environment in the Oak Lane Community, please ask a house manager or e-mail the complex director for the Oak Lane Community. |
