Hokie Bird InformationWho is the Hokie Bird? He's the official mascot of Virginia Tech. Football games, orientation, you never know just where he'll show up. He's also item #ITG12 at the Virginia Tech online bookstore (in 12 inch plush format of course...). The best place to catch the full size Hokie Bird in action is on the field at home football games, where he will do a bench press for each Tech point on the board - every time we score. Given the success of our football team, we hope he'll be in the best shape of any bird in the country! Loft Information & PoliciesAs seen in the picture, some Virginia Tech students choose to sleep in raised loft beds in order to gain additional room space. The Residence Hall Federation (RHF) sells optional university endorsed loft kits. You may choose to rent or purchase a metal loft kit from the RHF during check-in, or you may decide to build your own wooden loft. BUT, if you decide to build your a wooden loft, be sure to obtain a copy of the loft construction policy and guidelines from Student Programs. If your room contains bunked beds and you would like to de-bunk them, you must obtain single bed ends from the housekeeping supervisor in your building. Keep in mind that all single bed ends must be disassembled, re-bunked, and bed ends must be returned before you move out of the room. Lofts are prohibited in Cochrane, Slusher Wing, Payne, Hillcrest, Harper, New Residence Hall East and West, and in rooms designated for three-person occupancy. There are some rooms in Slusher Hall where space constraints place limitations on lofts. See the loft guidelines for more complete information. The Residence Hall Federation (RHF) sanctions a number of vendors to rent or sell items for residence hall use, such as refrigerators/microwaves, lofts, carpets and linens. This information is mailed to all students in June. For more information, check out the RHF link below. Related Links |
