Cable TV and VTTV Information

All residence hall rooms come with cable connection to more than 60 channels. For a current listing of available channels in residence halls, view Virginia Tech's Cable Television Channels.

But what if you want to be ON TV? Well Virginia Tech has it's own student run TV station - VTTV. VTTV Student Television is an entirely student run television station that provides a variety of programming on Channel 33 on campus and on Channel 15 on Blacksburg cable.

Pet Policy

Pets are not permitted in the residence halls. The only exceptions are:

• Guide dogs accompanying persons who have a sight-impairment
• Fish contained in one aquarium, not to exceed 10 gallons, per room

Corps of Cadets

Virginia Tech is one of two universities in the country that offers the combined advantages of a military-style leadership development program and a traditional academic and social life (the other is Texas A&M). Corps members follow a tough and demanding regimen that sets them apart as an elite group, yet they are an integral part of the student body. Cadets have their own exclusive organizations and activities, and they can also participate in every facet of the more than 400 academic, athletic, cultural, social, and recreational student organizations available to any of the 25,000 graduate and undergraduate students.

Corps lifestyle is challenging. Cadets are held to the highest standards of integrity, honor, self-discipline, and loyalty, but the rewards of this progressive leader development program are great.Ê Women make up about 20 percent of the Corps (a higher percentage than any other military college program, including the service academies), and they have held every leadership position in the Corps.

Participation in the Corps does not require a military obligation upon graduation. There is no military service obligation for participants in the first two years of ROTC training either, unless you are receiving a ROTC scholarship.
