Virginia Tech offers a wide range of housing possibilities on-campus, with 45 halls for students to choose from. The residence halls are divided into six communities, with each community consisting of two or more halls.

Quick Overview of the Communities at Virginia Tech

Consisting of only Pritchard and Lee Halls, the Prairie Community may seem small, but it houses nearly 2,000 residents.
The Drillfield Community consists of nine halls, more than any other community.
The Summit Community includes Ambler-Johnston, Cochrane, and Harper Halls.
The Presidents Community includes Barringer, Johnson, Miles, Newman, and Vawter.
The Oak Lane Community contains 18 houses for Greek organizations and their members.
Situated on the original center of campus, The Upper-Quad Community houses cadets and civilians.
There are six dining facilities on campus: Dietrick Dining Center, Owens Dining Center, Shultz Dining Center, West End Market, Vet Med Cafe, and Squires Food Court!. They are home to eleven restaurants including D2, DXpress, Deet's Place, Owens Food Court, Hokie Grill & Co., Sbarro, Au Bon Pain, West End Market, Shultz Dining Center, Shultz Express, and Vet Med Café.
